Sam Darnold has chance to clean up turnover issues as the Vikings visit the Titans

The Minnesota Vikings get another chance to clean up some offensive issues Sunday in their second of two straight road games against the dregs of the AFC South

Josh Oliver - Remains limited in practice Oliver (wrist/hand) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Impact Oliver has had his reps capped in both of the Vikings' first two Week 11 practices, so he may need to put a full workout Friday to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Titans. Though he's played north of 50 percent of the Vikings' offensive snaps in each of the past eight games and has cleared 50 receiving yards in the last two contests, Oliver could see his role scaled back a bit if he's available Sunday. Top tight end T.J. Hockenson has suited up in the last two games after being activated from the PUP list, and he should be ready to handle more playing time Week 11 after he was eased back in with 45 and 46 percent snap shares in his first two outings of 2024.

Impact One day removed from being limited due to an injury to his throwing hand Wednesday, Darnold was able to handle every practice rep, paving the way for him to continue to direct the Vikings offense. On Sunday, he'll be taking on a Titans defense that has given up the second-fewest yards per attempt (6.21) to opposing quarterbacks on the campaign.

Impact Van Ginkel recorded three total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, across 39 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Jaguars, but it appears he picked up a hip injury in the process. The Wisconsin product likely needs to upgrade to at least limited participation in practice Thursday or Friday in order to suit up in Week 11, when the Vikings travel to Tennessee.

Sam Darnold - Dealing with hand issue Darnold was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a right hand injury.

Impact Darnold offered up sterling quarterback play through the first four weeks of the campaign, tallying an 11:3 TD:INT and completing 68.9 percent of his passes. In five games since then, his completion percent (68.4) is nearly the same, but he's fallen off to a 6:7 TD:INT during that stretch. Darnold now is dealing with a health concern, and to his throwing hand to boot, so even if he doesn't miss any time, his accuracy could take a hit in the short term.

Impact As expected, Jones is opening Week 11 prep with a capped session due to the rib issue that forced him to miss about a quarter of action this past Sunday at Jacksonville. Coach Kevin O'Connell told Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Wednesday that Jones "will progress" as the week continues, so a full practice seems likely for the running back Thursday and/or Friday.

J.J. McCarthy - Undergoes another surgery McCarthy underwent a procedure on his right knee this week after an increase in his rehab caused some swelling, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

Impact In the wake of a successful preseason debut back on Aug. 10, McCarthy reported soreness in his right knee, and he eventually was diagnosed with a torn meniscus, which required surgery on Aug. 14. Considering he was placed on IR before cut-down day, the rookie first-round pick isn't eligible to play this season, so getting him right now will be key as he heads into his first full offseason as a pro. In the meantime, the Vikings will continue to entrust the offense in QB Sam Darnold.
