Impact Just five days after throwing five touchdown passes versus Temple, Houser put up an even better performance versus FAU. He tossed five touchdowns once again -- three of which were over 45 yards -- and threw a season-high 343 yards while completing over 77 percent of his passes. He also scored a 35-yard rushing touchdown in the waning seconds of the first half, his second of the season. Houser has been red-hot in his last three games as he has 15 total touchdowns and nearly 900 yards passing. He faces another favorable matchup Thursday at Tulsa.

Impact Houser made his second straight start Saturday and lit up his conference foe. He threw five touchdowns, to five different receivers, as his team put up a season-high 56 points. Although he did throw two interceptions, his five touchdown passes will certainly catch the eyes of his coach. After two straight strong outings, it's likely that Houser will start the rest of the season over Jake Garcia. Given what he's shown in his two starts and the fact that he has three favorable matchups coming up, he's a decent option for the rest of the season.

Impact Houser performed well during his starting debut. The redshirt freshman wasn't asked to do much as a passer, averaging just 4.6 yards per attempt, but he did cap off two well-managed scoring drives with touchdown passes of 13 and four yards in the first and third quarters, respectively. Houser also provided added benefit with his legs, including a 12-yard touchdown run for his longest carry of the day. Houser's three incompletions on his final four passes of the game did contribute to Michigan State blowing a 24-6 lead in the second half. Nevertheless, Houser's all-around encouraging debut should keep him in as the starting quarterback for what will be a difficult matchup versus the in-state rival Wolverines this coming Saturday.
