Chris Jones - Still in All-Pro form Jones totaled 27 tackles (18 solo) and nine sacks while also forcing a fumble over 14 games during the 2021 regular season.

Impact Jones earned All-Pro honors thanks to his efforts during the campaign, marking the fourth straight season he's been on either the first team or second team depending on the publication. He hasn't slowed down since signing a four-year extension with the Chiefs prior to the 2020 season and heads into 2022 with two years remaining.

Charvarius Ward - More around ball in 2021 Ward tallied 67 tackles (48 solo) and two interceptions over 13 games during the 2021 regular season.

Impact Although Ward's snap count dipped for a second consecutive season due, in part, to four missed games, he saw an uptick from 51 to 67 in the tackles department and recorded a pair of interceptions after not recording any a season ago. He will be an unrestricted free agent following the season, so it remains to be seen whether to not Ward will remain a Chief going into 2022.

Tyrann Mathieu - Consistent presence on back end Mathieu compiled 78 tackles (60 solo), a sack and three interceptions during the 2021 regular season.

Impact Mathieu has been a model of consistency since joining the Chiefs. He's played in no fewer than 15 games in each campaign and has racked up 60-plus tackles and at least three interceptions in all three seasons. Mathieu is finishing up the last of his three-year deal with the Chiefs and may command a hefty salary on the open market, which could result in the veteran moving on from Kansas City.

L'Jarius Sneed - Picks up tackling pace in 2021 Sneed compiled 76 tackles (57 solo), a sack, two interceptions and a forced fumble during the 2021 season.

Impact Sneed emerged on the scene as a rookie in 2020 to hold down a starting spot for the Chiefs after his selection in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He held down a starting spot throughout his sophomore campaign and upped his production to 5.1 tackles per game compared to 4.6 per contest a season ago. He remains under contract with the Chiefs for another two seasons.

Anthony Hitchens - Status quo in 2021 Hitchens tallied 80 tackles (41 solo) over 15 games in 2021.

Impact After playing 945 defensive snaps in 2018, the coaching staff made it a priority to get Hitchens some extra rest in subsequent seasons. His 568 snaps this season are his lowest total since his last season in Dallas back in 2017. While that isn't exactly a good thing from a fantasy standpoint, it does keep the veteran fresh and healthy. Hitchens has one more year remaining on the five-year deal he signed with Kansas City back in 2018.

Nick Bolton - Tops century mark in tackles Bolton racked up 112 tackles (70 solo) and took a fumble to the house for a touchdown during 2021.

Impact Bolton wasted no time integrating into the Chiefs' defense after being the first pick off the board for the club in the 2021 NFL Draft. He's gotten his career off to a promising start and could be a perennial triple-digit tackler if his rookie campaign is any indication.

Marcus Kemp - Works primarily on special teams Kemp finished out the 2021 regular season with two catches for 24 yards on five targets.

Impact Kemp played only 72 offensive snaps all season compared to 311 on special teams. He's still buried on the depth chart heading into the playoffs and doesn't figure to contribute unless things get bad in terms of wide receiver absences. Kemp will be a restricted free agent in the offseason, so there is a decent chance he will be back in Kansas City next year.

Noah Gray - Nabs seven passes in rookie season Gray was not targeted in the regular-season finale against the Broncos.

Impact Gray finished out his rookie season with the Chiefs having amassed seven catches for 36 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. While it's nothing to write home about, the 2021 fifth-round pick did grade out pretty well as a blocker overall and stands a good chance of moving up a spot on the depth chart in 2022. Blake Bell's one-year deal expires following the season, and Gray seems to have performed well enough to potentially move into the top backup role next year. That could entail some additional snaps and perhaps some added looks in the passing game, though Travis Kelce is still the clear No. 1 tight end in the offense. The Chiefs may also elect to groom Gray as the heir to Kelce if they like what they've seen from him.

Blake Bell - Closes out 2021 on quiet note Bell was not targeted on his 21 offensive snaps in the regular-season finale versus the Broncos.

Impact The Belldozer compiled just nine total catches for 87 yards on 13 targets during the 2021 season and has just two seasons total with double-digit receptions. The veteran tight end still hasn't caught a touchdown pass in his career and enters the offseason set to become an unrestricted free agent following a one-year deal. With Noah Gray developing behind Travis Kelce, Bell may be ticketed for a spot elsewhere in 2022.

Impact Hill was limited at practice Thursday, but his full participation in Friday's session sets the stage for the play-making wideout to be available for the team's postseason opener. As a result, Hill and tight end Travis Kelce will continue to profile as quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top passing targets this weekend. Through 17 regular season outings, Hill recorded a fantasy-friendly 111-1,239-9 receiving line on 159 targets to go with nine carries for 96 yards.

Darrel Williams - Questionable for playoff opener Williams (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's wild-card game against the Steelers.

Impact Williams was able to practice in a limited fashion all week and despite getting a designation for the postseason opener, the running back appears to be trending toward playing, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. On that note, head coach Andy Reid relayed Friday that he thinks Williams will be available "unless something happens" ahead of Sunday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, per Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star. Assuming he's active for the contest, Williams would be in line to head Kansas City's rushing attack, with Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) ruled out for the third game in a row. In that context, Derrick Gore and Jerick McKinnon will fill complementary roles behind Williams.
