Jacob Eason - Will fill in for Wentz With Carson Wentz slated to undergo a foot procedure, Eason is in line to handle the Colts' starting QB duties for the time being, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.

Impact Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Wentz will miss an estimated 5-to-12 weeks. Under that broad timeline, there's the distinct possibility that Eason will be the Colts' starting signal-caller Week 1. With that in mind, coach Frank Reich indicated that the "job is Jacob's right now...and he's gotta earn it. But he's in the driver's seat." Also currently in the team's quarterback mix are Sam Ehlinger, Brett Hundley and Jalen Morton.

Carson Wentz - Getting surgery, out for 5-12 weeks Wentz (foot) will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for 5-to-12 weeks, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.

Impact The vague recovery timeline isn't especially helpful, but we at least know Wentz has decided on surgery, making him unlikely to play Week 1. According to coach Frank Reich, Wentz's foot injury is an old problem that may date as far back as high school but didn't need to be addressed seriously until now. Previous reports suggested Wentz would be out for at least the first week or two of the regular season if he needed surgery, but there seems to be widespread agreement that his foot injury isn't a season-ender. Jacob Eason has been taking most of the first-team reps since Wentz left practice last week, with Sam Ehlinger, Jalen Morton and now Brett Hundley providing depth at quarterback.

Taylor Stallworth - Leaves practice with injury Stallworth limped off the field at Saturday's practice and had his hamstring wrapped, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.

Impact Stallworth recorded 12 total tackles in 16 games for the Colts last year and re-signed with the team during the offseason. The severity of the injury is unknown, but he'll have a couple weeks to recover before the preseason opener Aug. 15 against Carolina.

Carson Wentz - Opting for rehab program Wentz (foot) won't immediately undergo surgery and will instead begin a rest and rehab program, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact Wentz recently met with foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, and surgery apparently isn't guaranteed to be necessary. The 28-year-old should be available Week 1 if the rehab program goes well, as opposed to the procedure which would likely sideline him beyond mid-September. It's uncertain whether or not the strategy will work, and Wentz could have more limited mobility even if he doesn't go under the knife. Jacob Eason led the first-team offense at Friday's practice after Wentz suffered the injury.
